2-Methoxy-2-phenyl-3,3,3-trifluoropropanoic acid
Mosher esters are widely used derivatization reagents for the determination of the absolute configuration of chiral alcohols and amines by NMR spectroscopy.
Formation of diastereomeric Mosher derivatives enables the assignment of stereochemistry through characteristic chemical shift differences in the NMR spectrum. Furthermore, the enantiomeric excess (ee) can be determined after derivatization using a single 19F NMR experiment, making Mosher analysis a fast and efficient method for stereochemical characterization.
